Ashvin Viswanathan, CFA, is the director of quantitative strategy at People’s United Advisors. He brings more than a decade of experience in quantitative research and portfolio engineering for US and global equities and real estate securities strategies.
Ashvin joined the firm from O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, where he was a Principal and Portfolio Manager. During his seven year tenure at O’Shaughnessy, Mr. Viswanathan designed proprietary investment and risk models and was a key contributor to building out the firm’s “factor library.” He authored numerous research studies and white papers, and routinely met and spoke with client and industry groups on behalf of the firm.
Ashvin’s prior experience includes his roles as an investment analyst and a co-manager at Zephyr Management, LP as well as his experience as a Senior Portfolio Engineer at Guardian Capital, LP. In both roles, Mr. Viswanathan led quantitative research efforts and the development, testing, and implementation of investment models.

He is also a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Vermont, where he previously served as Director and President.
Prior to joining People’s United in 2008, John held positions at Blackford Securities, EF Hutton and C.J. Lawrence. Before entering the investment industry, he worked as a research scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California.
John holds a B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia and completed post-graduate studies at Stanford University. He also earned an MBA from Santa Clara University.

He serves as an Executive Board Member of the Vermont Basketball Coaches Association (VBCA) and is the varsity basketball coach for West Rutland High School.

Prior to joining People's United, Remus was responsible for leading Berkshire Bank's Asset Management and Trust Group in Vermont. Previously, he was a Vice President and Senior Tax Consultant on the Morgan Stanley Trust team. Remus began his career working with the Internal Revenue Service in Boston and New York.
Remus holds an associate's degree in accounting from Bunker Hill Community College, a B.S. from Union College, and a J.D. from the New England School of Law. He earned certificates from both the Heckerling Estate Planning Institute and the Cannon Financial Institute. Remus also holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation and is admitted to the Massachusetts and New York state bar associations as a licensed attorney.
