The Mystic Valley YMCA Receives Support from People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts
MALDEN, MA (February 24, 2022) — The Mystic Valley YMCA serves the communities of Malden, Medford, and Everett by providing social, recreational, and educational experiences for individuals and families. People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts, the charitable arm of People’s United Bank, has made a $10,000 donation to support technology upgrades.
The investment in technology enhancements will support a range of programs serving youth and families, including its Pre-K, School Age Childcare, Aquatics, and Community Food Programs in Malden. These four programs are projected to serve over 14,000 individuals in 2022. With the technology enhancements made possible with the grant support, the YMCA will be able to streamline intake, improve attendance management, better support children and teens with their schoolwork and educational activities, and improve family engagement, while also addressing technology access needs for staff and the youth and families they serve.
“We are thankful for the donation from People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts,” said Debbie Amaral, President & CEO of the Mystic Valley YMCA. “The YMCA has become an increasingly important part of people’s lives since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it provides a sense of community and support at a time when it has been needed more than ever. We are excited to be able to make upgrades that will expand and improve our program areas and provide the best care and service for our members.”
“Creating stable environments for our communities is essential during this unprecedented time,” said Patrick Sullivan, Massachusetts President, EVP of People’s United Bank and Foundation Board Member. “The Mystic Valley YMCA not only provides that environment, but they continue to better their community and support their members when it has been needed most.”
