Mobile Banking Overview

Mobile Banking will be in in inquiry-only mode starting at 3:00 PM ET, Friday, July 26 and will remain so throughout conversion weekend. People’s United Bank Mobile Banking can be downloaded on Monday July 29. Be sure to delete your existing Belmont Savings Bank app.

Yes, People's United Bank offers Mobile Banking which includes the downloadable mobile app, mobile website and text banking.

No. You will need to set up controls and alerts for your new Debit Card after signing up for Mobile Banking at People’s United Bank. See sign up instructions on our how to guide.

First, you will need to log into Online Banking to create a permanent password. Once you have created a permanent password and downloaded the People’s United Bank Mobile Banking app you can use your existing Belmont Savings Bank User ID and newly created password. If you are unable to login please contact us at 1-800-867-5295.

The People's United Bank mobile app supports the following operating systems and devices:

Yes, the People’s United Bank Mobile Banking service utilizes best practices, such as HTTPS, 128-bit SSL encryption, password access and application time-out when your phone is not in use. Only the phones that you personally enroll in the service can access your accounts. In addition, no account data is ever stored on your phone. And in the event your phone is lost or stolen, the service can be immediately disabled by either going through Online Banking or calling us.

We do not charge for the People's United Bank Mobile Banking service. However, a text messaging and/or data plan is typically needed. Please check with your wireless carrier for more information.

You will need to enroll your new device and remove your old device by logging into Online Banking and visiting the Manage Mobile Banking settings conveniently found under Customer Service.

To download People's United Bank Mobile App, visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store from your mobile device, search for "People's United Bank" and follow the instructions to download and register your device.

The initial deposit limit is $2,000.00 per item and per day for Mobile Check Deposit. Once the registration process into Mobile Banking is complete deposit limits can vary. Please refer to the Electronic Banking Services Agreement for details.

Touch/Face ID allows you to securely sign into the People’s United Bank Mobile Banking App using your fingerprint or face stored on your supported iPhone device. This feature allows you to quickly and securely access mobile banking without having to enter your User ID and Password.

Card Controls allow you to control how and where your debit card is used. You can Enable/Disable a debit card for use, restrict card usage to specific types of Merchants and/or Transaction Types, set Transaction Limits and restrict card use to specific geographical regions.

Sign into the app and select ‘Cards Controls’ from the ‘More’ menu. Select Add and you will be presented with a list of your eligible debit cards that you can add to Card Controls.

The changes made in Card Controls are effective immediately.

Once you have enrolled for Cards Controls, you can access Alerts from the ‘More’ menu. You will be automatically enabled to receive an alert for all Debit Card transactions but can choose to receive specific alerts.

Mobile Website

Yes, you will be able to view the full Online Banking site by going to www.peoples.com.

Text / SMS Banking

If your carrier supports text messaging and you have a text message capable phone, you will be able to use Text Banking. Message and Data rates may apply. Contact your wireless service provider for more information.

To enroll for Text Banking, you must have a People’s United Bank Online Banking profile.

  • Login to your People’s United Bank Online Banking
  • Choose "Manage mobile banking settings"
  • Click "Enroll a Mobile Device"
  • Follow the prompts
  • Accept our Mobile Banking Terms and Conditions
  • Page will refresh Text and Mobile Banking are selected, unclick Mobile Banking
  • Click continue
  • Page will refresh with activation code
  • A Text message will be sent to your mobile device
  • Respond to text message with the activation code displayed on the Mobile Banking center
  • You will receive a text message indicating activation was successful 

Yes, activation codes expire after a specific period of time (usually 24 hours). If you received an activation code and never used it, you will need a new one. Return to the Mobile Banking enrollment site by logging into your Online Banking account and going to "Manage mobile banking settings" to request a new activation code.

No, text commands are not case sensitive.

No. You will only receive messages when you specifically request them with one of the Text Banking commands or if you subscribe to Mobile Alerts.

Yes, you can use both options from the same phone. To do so you will need to activate each option on your phone prior to use.

Yes. Visit the Mobile Banking Center in Online Banking and simply enroll another phone number.

Typically you should receive a text message within a few minutes after enrolling, however sometimes mobile carriers experience delays which slow down text message delivery. While waiting, make sure your phone has wireless signal. In addition, be sure you entered the correct phone number on the enrollment site. If you still do not receive it, contact your wireless carrier to be sure text messaging is enabled on your phone.
