How to get started using Personal Finance
Your smart, secure online money management tool.

Get Started
The first step is to make sure you're enrolled in Online Banking, then:
- Log into Online Banking
- Click on More, then click Personal Finance link to enroll.
- Your People's United Bank accounts will be automatically linked, and transactions will be automatically categorized so you can start using the tool's spending, budgeting, debt management and cash flow insights for those accounts.


Link outside financial accounts
In order to get a more complete picture of your finances, link all accounts you have at mutiple financial institutions, not just People's United Bank. These could include mortgages, credit cards, retirement accounts, loans, and more:
- Click + Add an Account at the top right of the Personal Finance page
- Select the financial institution's name, or enter it manually if you don't see it listed
- Enter the log-in information you use to access your online accounts at those institutions.
Usernames and passwords are always stored with the same high level of security as your People's United Bank log-in information in order to automatically retrieve the most up-to-date financial information every night to refresh your Personal Finance view.

Review your linked account balances and transactions, and analyze your spending, budgeting and saving. Remember, the more accounts you link, the more complete and accurate your financial picture will be.

On April 2, 2022, People's United Bank, N.A. merged into M&T Bank. It is now part of M&T Bank and its former branches and most services will operate as the People's United division of M&T Bank until we complete the integration of our systems later in 2022.
