People's United Bank Donates $25,000 In Five-Year Pledge To Norwich's Otis Library

NORWICH, CONN. - To support future cultural and educational programs in the Norwich region, People's United Bank announced a five-year, $25,000 commitment to the Otis Library.

The bank’s five-year pledge will begin this year and already has enabled the library to plan several events and lectures in its 2008 calendar, including a children’s film series, an educational culinary program called “Recipe for Success,” an international storytelling event and several summer activities.

These programs will be added to the library's extensive curriculum that already includes homework help and suggested readings for children and a monthly book club for adults.

"Without the funding provided by People's United Bank, we would be very limited in what we can make available to our youngest patrons," said Bob Farwell, executive director of the Otis Library. "The monies received from People's United Bank will allow us to select and sponsor programs that will be of interest to all who use our wonderful library."
