The press conference is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Black Rock School in Bridgeport, Conn., located at 545 Brewster St. People's United Bank has graciously purchased thousands of tickets to be distributed to local schools in Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford prior to the game, in an effort to introduce the sport of hockey to under-privileged kids. "People's United Bank is proud to partner with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for this fun and educational event," said Armando Goncalves, first vice president and Greater Bridgeport growth manager. "Just as the Sound Tigers value the importance of teamwork, we want Bridgeport young people to value the importance of the team they create with their teachers and fellow students. Education and completing what you start, whether it be a hockey game or high school, is key to our youngsters' futures. If we can help impart this life lesson via a fun and entertaining program like Cool Fun 101, we're glad to do so." The Sound Tigers' "Cool Fun 101" game is scheduled for Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. when they take on their American Hockey League opponent, the Worcester Sharks. The game will stress the importance of young students receiving a quality education partnered with hockey. Students in attendance will receive an educational booklet with Sound Tiger questions on topics such as geography, math, science and other subjects covered in the classroom. "We are thrilled to join forces with People's United Bank for the second year in a row, in an effort to reach out to the community," Sound Tigers' president Howard Saffan said. "By having this game we are promoting the importance of education regardless of whether you're a second grade student or a player for the Sound Tigers." |
