![]() ![]() October 1, 2007People's United Bank and Greenburgh Police Department to Host Joint Senior Safety Event BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - People's United Bank Master's Program Coordinator Angela DeLeon will host a safety class for seniors, in conjunction with the Town of Greenburgh Police Department, Wednesday, October 10. The class will be held at the Theodore D. Young Community Center, 32 Manhattan Avenue and will begin at noon. Titled, "Your Best Protection is Awareness," the class will educate seniors in how to stay safe both in and out of the home. DeLeon will be joined by Police Officer Ed DeVito of the Greenburgh Police Department as well as George Coniglio of the Theodore Young Community Center. "Too often seniors don't realize they've been scammed until after the damage is done," said Angela DeLeon of the People's United Bank Masters Program. "While it can take a lifetime for a senior to earn the money saved in his or her bank account, it can take less than one minute for a con artist to steal your personal information and rob you of your financial security." DeLeon continued, "People's United Bank hopes by inviting senior citizens to participate in its safety classes, they will be armed with an education that will help them identify potential scams and avoid dangerous situations." Topics to be discussed during the safety class include: Carrying a purse or wallet, "Don"t Flash Your Cash," Using Automated Teller Machines, "Home, Safe Home," In Your Car, Casino Safety, Phone Scams and Mail Scams. |
