People's Bank Helps In The Expansion Of Johnson Memorial Hospital

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - People's Bank has donated $20,000 to the Johnson Memorial Hospital Emergency Department Expansion program. The donation will be used to help create an up-to-date, comfortable and well-equipped emergency department to ensure that doctors, nurses and healthcare providers can provide the highest level of service to patients in the Greater Tolland County area.

In 2004 alone, Johnson Memorial's Emergency Department treated 19,000 patients in a facility built 19 years ago to accommodate a quarter of the patients it serves today. As part of the hospital's efforts to alleviate some of the challenges faced by health care providers, Johnson Memorial has reached out to the community to raise funds to expand its Emergency Department with construction scheduled to begin in the spring of 2006.

The People's Bank donation will help to increase the size of the facility to 17,481 square feet - an increase of 157 percent from its current size.
