People's Bank Brokers Donate Over 100 Books To Newfield School

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - People's Securities, Inc., a subsidiary of Bridgeport-based People's Bank, will donate 140 books to the students of Newfield School on Friday, March 10, 1:30 p.m. at 405 Newfield Avenue. The donation comes as part of People's Securities, Inc.'s adoption of the Bridgeport elementary school for the 2005-2006 school year.

People's Securities, Inc. partnered with Scholastic Books along with Newfield School Principal Alana M. Callahan to select and present every student in the school with a brand new book for their personal enjoyment. Students in each grade level will receive a standard book with titles including, Clifford and the Grouchy Neighbors, The Dinosaur Who Lived in My Backyard, I Like Me!, and 26 Fairmount Avenue.

"We are proud to make this donation of books to the Newfield School. There is no better investment than an investment in the education of young people in our community," said Carol Sheridan of People's Securities, Inc. "We hope the students enjoy and share these books, which we know will bring them great dividends."

People's Securities, Inc. delivered employee-donated school supplies to Newfield School in September of last year and hopes to make another donation to the students before the 2005-2006 school year comes to a close.
