People's Employees Volunteer An Average Of 3.5 Days With Charitable Organizations In 2005

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -Today People's Bank announced that its employees contributed an average of almost 3 1/2 days per year of volunteer work to non-profit organizations statewide. Approximately 2,700 employees donated 75,000 hours, or about 28 hours, of community service to nonprofit agencies in 2005 - totaling 3.47 days to serving worthwhile causes around the state.

"During this season of giving, we are pleased to recognize our employees who give back to their communities throughout the year," said Parry Spahr, senior vice president, Corporate Community Relations at People's. "The gift of time and talent is quite often even more important than a monetary gift. Our employees made significant contributions to hundreds of organizations last year, and we're proud of their achievements."

"Whether in Norwich or New Canaan, Trumbull or Tolland, our employees have responded to the bank's legacy of volunteerism," Spahr continued. "At People's we encourage our employees to volunteer in their communities as part of our 164 year heritage of give back, and our employees respond every year."
