PEOPLE'S BANKER TO DISCUSS INVESTING FOR WOMEN

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - Attorney Brenda Brinz VanDeWeghe of the People's Wealth Management & Trust department will discuss the fundamentals of investing for women on Aug. 16, 2004 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fairfield Historical Society, 636 Old Post Road in Fairfield.

Given the fact that 75 percent of women are widowed at an average age of 56, women must provide for an economic future that for many may rely on a single income. "Add to this sobering statistic the fact that women do not usually work as long or as continuously as men, often leaving the workforce to raise children or care for elderly parents, and it is clear that women must be financially astute so they do not outlive their retirement savings," VanDeWeghe said.

VanDeWeghe is hosting this series, "Women Talking Money," on a monthly basis. Future discussions will include managing money, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, retirement accounts, trusts, charitable giving and estate planning.
