Walker, a banking professional with more than two decades of experience, has been named senior vice president, Residential Lending, People's Bank officials announced today. In his new role, Walker's focus on strategic development of residential lending department products and services will enhance the bank's ability to provide superior customer service. People's Bank is the number-one mortgage lender in Connecticut and closed more than $2.5 billion in loans last year. Walker joined People's in 1993 as vice president/wholesale lending manager and was instrumental in starting the Wholesale Lending department. He most recently served as first vice president, Residential Lending. From 1978 to 1993, he served in various positions at New England Savings Bank, including vice president and Retail Lending manager. While at New England Savings Bank, Walker increased market share by 124 percent between 1991 and 1993. Walker holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut. He currently serves as second vice president of the board of directors of the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers' Association. He also has served on the board of directors of the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Connecticut. Walker resides in East Lyme with his wife, Olga, and three sons, Michael, Daniel and Brian.
