People's Bank Hosts Seminar in Plainfield

Financial Experts to Speak on Fixed- and Variable-Rate Annuities

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - People's Securities, Inc., the brokerage subsidiary of People's Bank, will sponsor a free financial seminar called "Features and Benefits of Annuities" at the bank's Plainfield office, 67 Lathrop Rd., on Monday, April 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Financial experts will offer customers guidance on investing and retirement planning.

Renee Goupille, financial service manager, at the bank's Plainfield branch, will host the evening. Kaye Hathorn, a registered investment consultant at People's Securities, Inc., will discuss what annuities are and why they should be considered as part of long-range financial planning strategies. Mark Fitzgerald, regional vice president and annuities specialist at the Phoenix Companies, Inc., will discuss the features and benefits of annuities.

"An annuity can be an excellent tax-deferred investment and a great way to prepare for a comfortable retirement," said Hathorn. "We share our expertise with customers and help them understand the differences between fixed- and variable-rate annuities. That information, coupled with life stage events, helps people make more informed decisions about their financial future."
