People's Bank Hires VP of Commercial Lending

Scott Barnett Joins Commercial Lending Team in Hartford

BRIDGEPORT, CONN.
People's Bank has hired Scott Barnett as vice president, Commercial Lending. Barnett will be responsible for new business development and existing portfolio management in the bank's Hartford region.

Barnett's career in banking began in 1987 when he joined The Bank of New York as a management trainee. While with BoNY, he rose to the position of relationship manager and was also named assistant vice president. In 1993, Barnett moved to the former Shawmut National Corporation where, as vice president, he managed $30 million in funded loans and generated new business throughout southeastern Connecticut.

In 1995, Barnett joined BankBoston as senior relationship manager/director, and his territory expanded to encompass southern New England. Most recently, Barnett was with Citizens Financial Group where he worked as vice president and senior relationship manager. He served as a mentor to junior lenders while managing a $50-70 million loan portfolio.

Barnett earned a bachelor's degree in business from Skidmore College and a master's in business administration from the University of Connecticut.

He is on the boards of the Greater Hartford Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce and is a former member of the Simsbury Education Enhancement Foundation. Barnett is active in local politics;he is an executive member of the Simsbury Republican Town Committee and a member of the town's Economic Development Commission.

Barnett and his wife, Kris, live in Simsbury with their two children.
