Personal Safety, Fraud Prevention At People's Bank Hispanic Consumer University

BRIDGEPORT, CONN.
Senior citizens from Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford will learn from Spanish-speaking instructors about protecting themselves and their money when People's Bank, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and the Norwalk Police Department sponsor a Hispanic Consumer University on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 8 to 11 a.m., at The PepsiCo Theater at Norwalk Community College. The day's events will continue into the afternoon with social activities including entertainment, lunch and socializing.

Free transportation to Norwalk Community College will be provided by SADA in cooperation with the Salvation Army and the Southwest Connecticut Area Agency on Aging in Bridgeport, Stamford Dial-A-Ride and the Stamford Police Department in Stamford and Norwalk Senior Services in Norwalk

People's Masters Program is recognized nationally for its leadership in initiating crime prevention and awareness programs for senior citizens. People's Bank is the only financial services organization in the country to provide crime prevention and awareness training to older customers.

DeLeon is a member of the board of directors of the Crime Prevention Association of Connecticut (CPAC). She is the only person in Connecticut certified to teach senior sensitivity and senior crime prevention to police officers.
