People's Adresses Financial Concerns Specific To Women

Financial management workshop helps women take charge of their financial futures

BRIDGEPORT, CONN.
How do women's financial needs differ from men's? What concerns do women face in financial planning? And how do women address these concerns? These are just a few of the topics that will be covered in an upcoming series of free workshops by People's Bank to be held at the People's Stratfield office, 1237 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, Conn.

"Women are eager to get good financial advice;it's finding the time to learn what you need to know and take action that can be difficult," says Maribeth Farley, women's market manager, People's Bank. "Women have unique economic realities - they tend to live longer and move in and out of the workforce - so it is more important than ever for all women, single, married, divorced or widowed, to gain the confidence and skills to take charge of their money and secure their financial futures."

The workshop is divided into three nights of easy-to-manage financial material, beginning Wednesday, June 12, continuing Wednesday June 19, and concluding on Wednesday June 26;all sessions are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. In-class learning and homework will allow participants to develop a personalized financial plan that can be updated as life and financial needs change. Participants also will receive a private follow-up consultation with a financial investment consultant. Topics covered will include: Retirement Planning, Importance of Budgeting, Insurance and Risk Management, Investment and Tax Planning and Estate Planning.

The workshops will be presented by People's Bank financial advisers: Kathleen Morales, vice president and trust officer with 27 years of experience in the financial services industry;Cindy Perham, financial education specialist;Valerie Senew, Stratfield branch manager, who holds Series 6 and 63 licenses in financial planning;and Meghan Alfen, financial adviser who holds a number of licenses including the Series 7, 24, 63 and 65.
