Healey Named First Vice President At People's

BRIDGEPORT, CONN.
Thomas G. Healey has been named first vice president, Commercial Real Estate Finance, at People's Bank. In this position, he is managing three teams responsible for new business development, relationship management and management of existing loan portfolios in the bank's Western Region, which includes the greater Stamford, Waterbury and Bridgeport markets.

Healey's promotion to first vice president is a key element in People's strategy to augment local decision-making authority by assigning high-level officers to positions that directly impact business in local marketplaces. As part of this strategy, People's promoted four of its most experienced commercial bankers;each of the officers oversees staff and is responsible for lending decisions and new business development in his market.

Healey joined People's in 1996, as vice president and senior lender in Commercial Real Estate Finance, serving in that capacity in both the Stamford and Hartford regions. In 2000, Healey was named senior portfolio administrator for Commercial Real Estate Finance, responsible for overall portfolio administration, credit approvals and assisting in establishing department policy in the bank's corporate headquarters in Bridgeport.

Healey began his commercial banking career more than 15 years ago at Connecticut Savings Bank. He joined the former Shawmut Bank in 1990. There, he built and managed a $90 million portfolio consisting of construction/mini-perm, term loans and lines of credit. He also was responsible for originating new loans, performing comprehensive annual reviews of financial conditions of customers, and cross selling all bank services including deposits, cash management and hedge products.

A graduate of Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in applied economics and business management, Healey also attended the Emerging Leader Development Program at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He has taught accounting and financial analysis courses for the American Institute of Banking, New Haven Chapter.

He and his wife Karen have three children. The family resides in Madison where Healey coaches Madison Youth Football, basketball, soccer and Little League.
