People's Offers Financial Seminars To Help In Planning For The Future

Programs To Be Offered Around Connecticut in 2002

BRIDGEPORT, CONN.
Changes in tax laws, turbulent stock markets and an uncertain economy can make financial planning a complicated challenge for busy, working people. To help consumers make more informed decisions about their financial future, People's Bank and its subsidiaries are bringing their expertise to a series of seminars across Connecticut.

The programs cover a wide range of topics including college funding, retirement and financial management and will be held in locations including Shelton, Trumbull, Avon, Norwalk and Norwich.

People's is a leader in combining banking with a full range of investment services, which it brought to customers in 1983 with the launch of People's Securities Inc., its brokerage subsidiary. People's introduced online trading through its award-winning Internet site, peoples.com, in 1995. With licensed professionals in each branch, combined with 160 years of experience, People's provides guidance in each of its branch locations to help customers meet their financial goals. These seminars are designed to help consumers make the most of their financial resources.

People's also offers a full line of personal and commercial insurance products through its subsidiaries, People's Insurance Agency and RC Knox & Company, and Beardsley Brown & Bassett, a division of RC Knox.

In 1999, it introduced the People's Financial Center, which combines a full-service branch with a complete brokerage office. There are now eight People's Financial Centers in Connecticut. In 2000, People's began expanding the investment services offered in branches, and now has more than 180 licensed investment professionals in its statewide branch network.
