About People's United

People's United Bank is notifying approximately 90,000 affected customers that a tape containing confidential data was lost recently while being transported by UPS to TransUnion, a credit reporting bureau.

The following questions were created to help customers determine if they are affected by this incident and, if they are, to provide them with more information.

Who is affected?
The missing tape contains confidential information about customers, including bank employees, with a People's United Bank personal credit line (PCL), the "overdraft protection" associated with their personal checking account.

This incident does not affect equity credit lines or any other People's United accounts. It also does not affect business credit lines linked to business checking accounts.

How will I be informed if my personal information is on the tape?
Affected customers are receiving a letter from the bank explaining the incident and what People's United is doing to protect affected customers' information as well as how they can help protect themselves from misuse of their personal information.

I have never had a personal credit line linked to my checking account. Was my information affected?
