Which accounts can I see on my profile?
You can view your checking, savings, CD's, and money market accounts that you are listed as an owner on, provided that you have added them to your profile. You will be able to view your currently linked business accounts if you are listed as an owner or authorized signer.

What exactly can I do?
There's a lot you can do once your profile is created. You will be able to view your running balances and transact on your personal and business checking, savings and money market accounts and view up to 24 months of account history including transfers and bill payments. You can also pay bills, setup recurring payments, instantly add or delete a merchant, transfer between linked checking accounts, re-order checks, place a stop payment, report a bill pay problem, make a brokerage transfer, open a People's United Plus CD, view check images, setup an email alert, view a summary of your online activity and use Microsoft MoneyTM or QuickenTM to view/download account history.

Are there any fees for using peoples online?
No. Some other banks charge for their online banking, but we don't. There is no charge to access your account information and no charge to pay bills. This does not apply to commercial checking accounts please refer to the Commercial Help section for more information.

Does it take a lot of time to set up a profile?
No, it doesn't take a lot of time. Once you create your profile (about 5 minutes), it's a snap to access your information when you log on the next time.

What do I need to login?
In order to login to People's United Online you will need your username and password you supplied at the time you created your profile.

What do I need to set up a profile?

This is a list of personal information that you will need to enroll in People's United Online to create a new personal profile. You will need your...

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Social Security Number/Employer Identification Number (SSN/EIN)

  • Or if you are a Non- Resident Alien and do not have a Social Security Number, you will need your Passport Number

  • Daytime phone number

  • Evening phone number

  • E-mail address

  • People's United Bank checking account number

  • Personal Identification Number or Business Identification Number (PIN/BIN)

  • After you have completed filling out all of your personal information you will need to create a Username and Password that you will use to login to your new People's United Online personal profile.

Can anyone view my information?
Your username and password are required to access your account information. Without those 2 things, no one can view your accounts.

What if I am not comfortable moving my money electronically?
Many customers choose to utilize Online Banking to check balances on checking, savings, and money market accounts to see a history of transactions. While you may choose not to use it to pay bills or do transfers, you can access a great deal of account information 24 hours a day. Once you have a profile set up, you can get up to date information on your business or personal checking, savings and money market accounts.

Why do I now need to use scrollbars to see a full history screen?
Your computer monitor's screen resolution may be set too low to view our expanded screens. Adjusting your monitor's resolution is easy to do and needs to be done only one time.

Windows 95/98/2000/XP

  1. First right-click on the Desktop and then left click on "Properties" from the menu that appears.
  2. The display properties dialogue box will appear, click on the "Settings" tab at the top right of the box.
  3. Changing the resolution simply sliding the Screen Resolution bar along to the resolution of 1024 x 768.
  4. Go to the "Color Quality" control to the left and, using the drop down box, change the setting to "High Color". Click "OK".
  5. The Display Properties box will appear stating "Windows will now resize your desktop..." Click "OK".
  6. If you have already set your monitor before with Windows 95/98/2000/XP, a box will appear asking, "You resized your desktop. Do you want to keep this setting?" Click "yes".
  7. If you have not adjusted your monitor previously with Windows 95/98/2000/XP, you will need to tell the computer the type of monitor you have.
  8. Using the scroll bars, choose the manufacturer and model number (or a similar model) of your monitor. Click on your manufacturer in the left window. Select the model number in the right window. Click "OK". The box shown in Step #5 will then appear and you should click "OK". The box from Step #6 will appear, and select "YES" if you wish to use the new settings.

Macintosh

ON A POWER MACINTOSH:

  1. Near the bottom of your "desktop", you'll see a little gray shape (control strip) that looks like a belt buckle. If you click on it, it will expose a "belt" of little pictures (also called "icons")with an even smaller arrow next to each one.
  2. Go to the monitor icon that has black-and-white checks in the screen. This is where you will adjust the resolution.
  3. Click on the icon and HOLD YOUR FINGER DOWN ON THE MOUSE. You'll see a "menu" that lists different choices for screen resolution. They are:

    640 x 480
    832 x 624
    1024 x 768

    Bring your cursor up to "832 x 624" and highlight it. This is the Macintosh version of "800 x 600 pixels."

  4. Take your finger off the mouse. You've made the selection!
  5. Restart your computer.


What is a NEACH transaction?
A NEACH transaction is an electronic withdrawal or deposit from a company that you authorized. The authorization can be from a check that was sent to pay a bill or a payment done over the phone.

What is my routing number / transit number?
People's United Bank Routing Number is: 221172186. The 9- digit Bank Routing Number and Bank Account Number are found on the bottom of your check. The Bank Routing Number is the first sequence of numbers;the Bank Account Number follows.

  • How Do I Complete a Wire Transfer?

    A wire transfer can be done in person at a branch with proper identification. You will need the persons account number and the ABA or routing number of their bank. The receiving bank may charge an additional wire fee. Peoples wire fee can be found here.

    What is a check image?

    Check images are pictures of your cancelled checks. Each cancelled check is scanned, and the digital image is stored. Check images are then printed clearly in numerical order and included with your monthly account statement. These same check images are available in People's United Online.

    What do I do if I need a copy of a check?

    You can view and print a free copy of any check (front and back) that posted to your checking account by signing in to People's United Online.

    Can a check image be used for proof of payment?

    Yes. Check images may be used for most business purposes.

    Is there a charge for viewing online check images?

    Online check images are provided free of charge for People's United Bank customers.

    How do I view an online check image?

    To view Check Images, Login to People's United Bank Online. Star at the "Account Summary" page, and select the "View History" link. Then, click a check image icon under the "Type" column. A popup window will open with the check details and check image.

    Why is my image not available?

    Many of the new browser versions have what is referred to as "popup blockers". These popup blockers will prevent you from viewing some information that is presented in a separate browser window. The popup blocker function can be disabled so that you may view and have access to all of the features in online banking. Check images many also be not available because the check image has not been posted to your account yet.

    Can I view the front and back of a check?

    Yes. Both front and back images of the check are made available. You may also zoom in, zoom out and print the check images for your record.

    What accounts offer check images?

    Check images are available for retail and commercial checking accounts.

    How do I access my statement online?

    It's easy to view your statements online. Begin by logging in to your People's United Online profile and click on the "Statements" link from the navigation bar. A new window will open with your estatements viewer.

    When will my statement become available?

    The statement will become available online approximately at the same time your paper statements are mailed out.

    How do I view multiple checks?

    After accessing your online statement, you may view multiple checks at one time by clicking on the "View Check Images" link located toward the top left corner of your statement.

    How do I print my statements?

    You have the option to print the entire statement or individual summaries (sections) of the statement. Click on the "printable Version" link on top right column of the statement to print the entire statement. You may also print the individual statement summaries (sections) by clicking the print link on the specific section headers. To best view your statement after printing, please print the statement in Landscape format.

    Can I download my estatements?

    Yes. You may download your statements as a CSV file. A link to the CSV download is located in the right column of the individual summary headers of your statement. This file format is often used to import into spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft Excel.

    How long will my statement be available online?

    You statement will be available for 16 months after posting, starting with your September 2007 statement.

    Why do I get a horizontal scrollbar when viewing my estatements?

    The minimum resolution requirement of the eStatements system is 1024 x 768. Please be sure your desktop is set to at least 1024 x 768 or higher resolution.

    What is the Reconcile tool and how can I use it?

    The reconcile tool is an in-statement calculator which allows you to balance your account statement. The information entered into the reconcile form is not saved and is lost once the form is refreshed or closed. Account totals in the reconcile tool are calculated as items are entered.

    Can I print the Reconcile tool results?

    Yes. You may print the reconcile tools result by using the browser's native print functionality.

    Can I turn off my paper statement?

    No. Currently paper statements cannot be turned off.
