Lead Director

George P. Carter, is the non-executive Chairman and the Lead Independent Director of People's United Financial, Inc. As Lead Independent Director, Mr. Carter serves as lead representative of the independent members of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Carter is Chairman of the Audit and Executive Committees of People's United Financial, Inc. and is a member of its Compensation and Nominating Committee. He has been a member of People's United Bank's Board of Directors since 1976, and Chairman of its Audit Committee since 1988. In addition to chairing the Audit Committe, Mr. Carter is the Chairman of the Bank's Executive Committee and is a member of its Loan Review, Operational Risk and Human Resources Committees.
